उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक

उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक (अंग्रेज़ी: consumer price index या CPI) घरेलू उपभोक्ताओं द्वारा खरीदे गये सामानों एवं सेवाओं (goods and services) के औसत मूल्य को मापने वाला एक सूचकांक है। उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक की गणना वस्तुओं एवं सेवाओं के एक मानक समूह के औसत मूल्य की गणना करके की जाती है। वस्तुओं एवं सेवाओं का यह मानक समूह एक औसत शहरी उपभोक्ता द्वारा खरीदे जाने वाली वस्तुओ का समूह होता है। जनवरी २०१५ मेंआधार वर्ष में हुए सुधार के अनुसार उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक का नवीनतम आधार वर्ष २०१२ को माना जाने लगा है। भारत में उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक आधारित मुद्रास्फीति के आँकड़े केन्द्र सरकार के सांिख्यकी एवं कार्यक्रम कार्यान्वयन मंत्रालय द्वारा मासिक आधार पर प्रतिमाह जारी किए जाते हैं। इस सूचकांक हेतु वस्तुओं एवं सेवाओं के मूल्य संबंधी आँकड़े राष्ट्रीय नमूना सर्वेक्षण संगठन NSSO द्वारा चुनिंदा शहरों से संग्रहित किए जाते हैं , जबकि ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों के लिए आँकड़ों का संग्रहण डाक विभाग द्वारा किया जाता है।
